Sweet Oatmeal Biscuits

A very basic cookie recipe with a soft, chewy texture perfect for adapting to your favorite flavor additions.

Ingredients

• 1/4 lb (1 cup/114g) oatmeal, medium or fine
• 1/4 lb (3/4 cup/110g) flour
• 2 oz (3 tablespoons/58g) margarine [butter]
• 2 oz (1/4 cup/58g) sugar
• 1 teaspoonful (5g) baking powder
• Milk to mix [approximately 1/4 cup/61ml]
• Suggested additions: 2 oz (1/4 cup/58g) brown sugar, 1 teaspoon (5ml) vanilla extract, 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

1. Mix dry ingredients. [Optional: Add vanilla extract.]
2. Rub in margarine [butter], and mix to a stiff paste with milk.
3. Roll out thinly, cut in rounds, and bake a light brown. [About 15 minutes at 350°F/180°C.]
